Library Materials – updated 2/9/2024

Library Policy

Items that are taken out are to be returned at the next meeting.

Two items can be checked out when the next meeting is the next month. Over the winter, when the next meeting is in three months, four items can be borrowed. Over the summer, when the next meeting is in four months, five items can be borrowed.

The fine for overdue material is $1 for each item for each meeting month they are overdue. (For example, this means a book borrowed over the summer, due in September, but not returned until October, incurs a month’s fine.) Fines are paid on the honor system. The money is used to buy new library material.

To maximize the circulation of popular books, books can’t be renewed. However, if you return an item that you want to take out for a longer time, and it is still on the shelf at the end of the meeting because no one else wanted it that month, you can take it out for another month.
Members with overdue material may not borrow more items until the overdues are returned.

Library Procedures

The library is open on meeting and workshop days. A librarian is present from 9 am to 10 am on meeting days to put the cards back in the books and reshelve the books. At other times the members can return and borrow items themselves.

Please do not remove items from the “to be reshelved” bin without speaking with the librarian. They must be checked in before they can be borrowed.

New members are asked to have a member cosign the first two times they borrow library material. At present Mary Alice Favro is the co-signer.
