Vermont artist, Guild member and White River Craft Center Weaving Studio manager Pam Wilson will offer a beginner-friendly workshop that will explore supplemental weft and warp methods that allow for spontaneous on-loom design, approaching cloth with an artist’s eye.
Participants will look at the global and modernist textile techniques that use basic tabby or plainweave structures as a sturdy foundation on which to image-build and explore methods of adding visual interest using discontinuous weft and warp threads withing this most basic weave structure.
Students will bring pre-warped looms and complete a sampler. Loom requirements: Ideally a 4-harness loom though 2-harness is acceptable. Some methods will require manual pick-up. Participants will need to bring their own loom. Rentals can be arranged by contacting the Guild or the instructor (NEED TO ADD E-MAIL ADDRESSES HERE).
There will be a $10.00 materials fee paid directly to Ms. Wilson at tyhe workshop.
