Vermont artist, Guild member and White River Craft Center Weaving Studio manager Pam Wilson will offer a beginner-friendly workshop that will explore supplemental weft and warp methods which allow for spontaneous on-loom design, approaching cloth with an artist’s eye.
Participants will look at the global and modernist textile techniques that use basic tabby or plain weave structures as a sturdy foundation on which to build an image and explore methods of adding visual interest using discontinuous weft and warp threads within this most basic weave structure.
Students will bring pre-warped looms and complete a sampler. Loom requirements: ideally, a 4-shaft loom, though 2-shaft loom is acceptable. Ask about the possibility of a Guild loom rental.
There will be a $10.00 materials fee paid directly to the instructor at the workshop.
