Turned Taqueté offers a perfect opportunity to step into the fun of color as the basis for exploring pattern and geometry in weaving. You will be amazed at how easy it is to use color to create original designs with this technique. Using color in Taqueté will convince you there are no “bad” combinations. Workshop participants will learn how using 4 colors can create exciting shapes and designs that are distinctive and stunning.
In this hands-on class you will thread a pre-wound warp with a straight draw on 4 shafts. Keep It Super Simple! Your individual colors and treadlings will allow you to create multiple widths of squares, rectangles, lines and crossed intersections. This is a chance for your personal aesthetic to come alive as you weave multiple designs from one warp. Participants will finish a stunning cotton cloth that will brighten any room in which it is used.
This class requires independent thinking and use of individual design elements. Don’t be fooled by the 4-shaft straight draw. Taqueté is a treadling technique that will ease your understanding of Echo, Jin and other parallel threadings.
There is a $15.00 materials fee paid directly to the instructor.
