The Whys of Sampling
A Members Presentation

September 12, 2026
1:00 p.m.

Free Workshop; no registration required.

Ever wonder why you should sample? Or what you could learn from your samples? Perhaps you would like to know what people do with their weaving samples besides squirrelling them away in bins, boxes or drawers? Why do some weavers find them useful or interesting enough to keep?

Using our informal and user-friendly “weavers helping weavers” format, Guild members will share samples along with thoughts on their value and uses. To get things started, we will present and discuss the weaving sample binders from the Guild library collection.

Guild member Julie George will share the work that she (and others) did weaving samples of Vermont Historical Society coverlets. We wil also have a display of samples of coverlets from the Shelburne Museum.

We encourage participants to bring their own samples and to talk about their own sampling experiences. No samples? No problem. We welcome you all.
