The Whys of Sampling
September 12, 2026
1:00 p.m.
Ever wonder why you should sample? What you could learn from them? Ever wonder what people did with samples besides squirrel them away in bins, boxes or drawers? Ever wonder if others would find them useful or interesting?
In a “weavers helping weavers” sort of format, members of the Guild will share smples along with their thoughts on their uses, their value, and what can be done with them. To get things started we will present and discuss the sample books that are part of the Guild library collection. Julie George will share the work she, and others, did making samples of Vermont Historical Society coverlets. We will also have a display of the work, and samples, of the coverlets from the Shelburne Museum.
We encourage others to bring their own sample books, experiences too, but mostly we hope you just come and participate.
