Welcome to our website!
 |
| Weaving in three dimensions
with Sarah Fortin in the October workshop. |
Welcome to the website of the Vermont Weavers Guild. All
levels of weavers are welcome, from novices to those with
more experience. We often hear people say that they are just
beginners or are not good enough to join the guild. The
Vermont Weavers Guild is composed of members with varied
experience. Weavers love talking about weaving, and our
experienced weavers enjoy sharing their knowledge and
helping new weavers.
The guild meets in a beautiful restored building in
Randolph, VT. It is a place where people with similar
passions can come together to share and receive information
about weaving, inspire and encourage one another, and find
camaraderie. Our library offers a very complete selection of
fiberart books and periodicals and members are permitted to
take out 3 items each month. We have study groups and a
mentor program in which weavers can receive support and
feedback while exploring different aspects of weaving.
This fall we will be enjoying three very different
workshops. Our first workshop in September will be dying
warps led by BJ Allen. In October we will have a three day
workshop on rep weave and other warp faced weaves with
Lucienne Coifman. The fall series ends in November with a
workshop on Kasuri by Charlotte Hamlin. Kasuri is the
Japanese term for the intricate process of creating delicate
ikat patterns in both warp and weft yarns.
During our one day workshops, the workshop presenter usually
gives a presentation in the morning for the entire guild and
a hands-on portion in the afternoon for those people who
have signed up for it. We also have a short business meeting
and lunch after the morning presentation.
The Guild thrives on its volunteers, and those members with
time and desire have the opportunity to make the guild as
effective as it can possibly be. We are fortunate to have
members with diverse talents who all contribute to making
the Vermont Weavers Guild an enriching, stimulating, and
worthwhile guild.

Meeting Notes.... |
from Mary
Schwartz
October’s meeting was in the midst of a 3 day
workshop by Robyn Spady, “Extreme Warp Makeover”.
The Vermont guild was remarkable for the ability of
quite a few participants to make all the samples
during the workshop. There should be some good
show and tell from this one. Robyn was extremely
generous with her knowledge and really opened up the
possibilities for 4 shaft (and beyond) weaving.
