Meeting Notes - May 09by Mary Schwartz
I hope everyone had a great summer and still had time to
get some weaving done. Betty Atwood gave an informal
workshop on inkle loom weaving at the May meeting, and the
afternoon was given to enjoying the opening of the Guild
Show, titled “Windows on Weaving.”
Programs for this fall include Habu Textiles in
September, Robyn Spady’s 3 day workshop in October, and
Charlotte Hamlen on Japanese textiles in November. Note
that this month’s meeting is Saturday, September 19, the
third Saturday of the month, rather than our usual meeting
day. There may still be openings for the afternoon workshop.
Don’t pass up the opportunity to weave with something
unusual and wonderful from Habu. There are also still some
openings in the other workshops for this fall. Other items
from the May meeting included organizing those going to NEWS
to set up the Guild table show and get things ready for the
fashion show set up.
This was the guild’s annual meeting with election of
President and Vice-President. Toby Goldsmith is President of
the guild and Kim Cannon is Vice President.
The annual budget was presented and accepted without
comment. The guild needs a new representative to NEWS and
the program committee could use some more members as well.
There isn’t a lot of work involved—mainly emails—and it
would be really good to have more people for brainstorming.
If anyone has requests for workshops – someone you have
heard of that you’d like to see, an idea or topic you’d like
to see covered, or a topic you would like to present to the
guild, either formally or informally please let anyone on
the program committee know. Feel free to email us anytime
an idea strikes you or post it to the list.
