Meeting Notes - March 09

by Mary Schwartz

Jennifer Hoag, of Northeast Fiber Arts in Williston, gave the morning presentation and did a really fun workshop of felt samples at the March meeting.

Don’t forget the next meeting, Saturday, April 10, is the day to turn in your work for the Guild Show.
NEWS entry form is available at http://www.newenglandweaversseminar.com Click on “Entry information” and then “Entry form”
VWG coversheet and more information is available on our website: http://vermontweaversguild.org

An anonymous donation of $400 came through the White River Craft center. We could think of something special to do with it.

PROGRAMS: Programs are all set for 2009. Our May meeting will be the Show Opening and the guild annual meeting. Also there will be a workshop on Inkle loom weaving with Betty Atwood in the morning.

In the fall we have Habu Textiles, Robyn Spady’s three day workshop--Extreme Warp Makeover--and Charlotte Hamlen’s on Japanese textiles. You can sign up for any of these workshops now.

Spring 2010 programs are tentative. A new program committee will be formed in May. New members will be needed.

We will also need a new representative, or representatives, for the New England Weavers Seminar.

We were asked if the Guild was interested in participating in a craft fair at CVU high school in October. It is well attended. A percentage goes to the school. A percentage could go to the Guild for fundraising. Think about putting on a little extra warp and making something for the guild. We will find out how much it costs and report.

Convergence 2010 will be held in Albuquerque, July 18-25. The Guild has copies of HGA’s magazine, Shuttle, Spindle and Dyepot. HGA’s website is weavespindye.org.

We now have 200 postcards to distribute for publicity.

NEWS (New England Weavers Seminar) There is a sheet listing responsibilities for the Guild’s job of putting up and taking down the static fashion show. Please sign up for times when you can help if you haven’t already done so. Friday night after the fashion show is the main time help is needed to put it up and then Sunday afternoon for take down.
